2024 Yuletide Letter
Oct. 8th, 2024 05:44 pmDear Yuletide Author,
Thank you for writing for me! =D I'm big into smaller fandoms, so this is always a fun exchange. I'm excited to see what you'll create!
I am open to:
- Treats
- Yuleporn
- Crossovers
- Interactive Fiction
General likes include: Whump, hurt/comfort, break the haughty, sickfic, time shenanigans, classic fanfiction tropes, enemies/rivals to lovers, role reversal, domesticity, pining, unhealthy obsession, toxicity and drama, possession, horror, AUs, historical settings, mysteries, awkward moments, comedy, isekai, fictional law/politics/government, bureaucracy, espionage, worldbuilding, outsider POV, emotional immaturity, author interests in fic, pastiche
Smut likes include: Kink without sex, spanking, humiliation, ageplay (inc. ABDL, diapering as punishment, diaper use), traditional discipline (think mouth-soaping, corner time etc), enemas, painal, noncon, emeto, omorashi
DNWS: Omegaverse, hand/teeth/nail/ear gore, animal abuse/death (outside typical hunting/consumption for meat), Male dom/female sub, pregnancy, kidfic, forcefem, vaginal penetration, non-canon main character permadeath
Cthulhu Mythos
Characters: Nyarlathotep, Randolph Carter
Open to fic about the two of them, or either character solo. Also open to other ships involving these characters, or interactions between these characters and others!
Apart from a fandom that isn't Yuletide eligible, this is my longest running ship! Dream Quest got in my brain and has stayed there ever sense.
I'm always open to Nyarlathotep getting whumped/suffering. Can be sexy suffering or non-sexy suffering, with comfort or without :3 (how do you comfort a being like that, anyway?) Randolph could also do terrible things (kinky or otherwise) to him to punish Nyarlathotep for trying to kill him/generally being awful. Basically, the Crawling Chaos getting taken down a peg or several hundred.
Dreamlands politics, intrigue, and espionage would also be fun as hell. Maybe Randolph Carter returns to the Dreamlands after The Silver Key, but finds he needs some bodyguards to protect him---which spirals out into an intelligence network. Or he has to navigate complicated Dreamlands court politics, or finds himself in the center of some dispute. Also love the idea of Nyarlathotep and Randolph as a couple becoming known in the Dreamlands: how would other inhabitants react? Would it cause a stir?
Runemarks
Characters: Any
Another favorite Yuletide fandom of mine :D
Loki/Skadi is a fun crackship. You can never go wrong with enemies to lovers, right? Or more likely, enemies to enemies who fuck each other. Same difference. Maybe they get put in some sticky situation together, and have to work together to get out. Or maybe Loki starts trying to push Skadi's buttons for the hell of it, and Skadi decides to teach him a lesson (he will not learn).
Loki and Maddy also have a really fun dynamic. I'm open to shipping them but also open to exploring a gen relationship between them. Maybe there's some unresolved sexual tension there? Or maybe he's more of a cool older brother-type figure to Maddy.
Finally, hear me out: Maddy/Skadi. I definitely got a vibe from Runemarks that Maddy was kinda into the Vanir women. I could see Maddy developing a crush on Skadi, and being conflicted about how to handle that. Perhaps Loki ends up as a reluctant go-between?
Gormenghast
Characters: Worldbuilding
The worldbuilding in Gormenghast is so fucking cool, and I would love to read fic that's just sort of chewing on that worldbuilding. What was the castle like before the events of the books? How do the inhabitants get food and other resources? A big question I had while reading was on Gertrude's origins---where did she come from? What's her like, deal?
I don't think I'm as interested in worldbuilding for the setting of Titus Alone as much---the area centered around the castle was more compelling. But I am enchanted by Gormenghast existing in a world that's more or less modern. Was there a time when the inhabitants of Gormenghast had regular contact with the broader world? Are there people outside the mountain who know about Gormenghast? Are there people in the castle who know about the rest of the world, but don't say anything?
Infinite Jest
Characters: Avril Incandenza, Joelle Van Dyne, Michael Pemulis, Hal Incandenza
Also open to worldbuilding, because the universe of Infinite Jest is fascinating. Also, Michael Pemulis/Hal Incandenza.
Please feel free to do a DFW pastiche for this one. With footnotes :D
I love the idea of Avril/Joelle femslash. I don't have as many plot bunnies so much as I am just kinda in love with the general concept of this ship, but something set after the events of the book would be really interesting. Perhaps after Joelle leaves Ennet House she ends up meeting Avril again---or maybe something brings Avril to Ennet House (not necessarily as a resident, though it would be interesting to see how Avril might end up one!)
The Sympathizer
Characters: Any
Sandra Oh ate.
For real though, I would love to see events from the series from Sofia's point of view. What is her internal impression of the Captain? What made her decide to help him escape? Does she think about him after the series? Maybe, a few decades later, she goes out and rents a copy of The Hamlet---does it bring back any memories, or cause her to re-evaluate things?
The dynamic between the Captain and Sonny could also be fun to explore. Possibly in a slash direction (alternate ending to episode 6?) Or pre-series: what was their relationship like when they were in college together? How did they understand each other then? Did Sonny ever have any suspicions that maybe the Captain wasn't the reactionary he pretended to be?
Thank you so much! I'm so excited to read what you write :D I hope you have fun writing!
